First Week Done!
10 Oct 2020My first week at the University is over! 🎉
It’s a little more overwhelming than I expected, with the onus definitely on the student to take their learning into their own hands. I feel virtual learning has definitely increased my workload, and has forced me to manage my time more effectively. (Not like I can go anywhere, anyways!)
University definitely a departure from the learning model pushed at secondary school and college, yet it’s a refreshing change.
I’m studying Computer Science, and although I love the course, I think that there’s a little too much emphasis on coding before we’ve fully established the basic tenets of computational and algorithmic thinking. Despite that, I think I’ve got some amazing lecturers (ahem, readers), and I’ll enjoy it!
My first meeting of the week was with my personal tutor, followed by virtual seminars on
- Programming for Computer Scientists
- Professional Skills
- (Discrete) Mathematics for Computer Scientists
- Computer Organisation and Architecture
I’ve got quite a bit of reading and several virtual lectures to attend to, with my first assignment due on Monday! I’m looking forward to it.
